Your GTM Stack Is Not a System Yet
Forward deployed marketing turns disconnected tools into workflows your team can actually run.
Most GTM teams already own enough tools to improve how the work runs. And yet, somewhere in the stack, a person is still acting as the integration layer. They copy data between systems, update spreadsheets, cross-reference lists, and manually turn one tool’s output into another tool’s input.
The problem is that nobody has installed the workflow.
This week, Olly Jones introduces the four capabilities behind forward deployed marketing: Judge, Build, Install, Transfer. The real work is judging what's worth building, building it, installing it into the actual workflow, and transferring ownership back so the team can run it themselves.
The Skill Stack applies that idea to n8n, a platform marketers can use to connect tools and automate the manual handoffs between them. Marketers do not all need to become automation engineers. But they do need to understand how work moves between systems, where human judgment belongs, and what it takes to make a workflow run without them.
Myosin Learns shows the same shift at the individual level. Bettina Sosa uses LinkedIn data, Claude, and EXA to turn an existing network into a system for finding warm prospects. The advantage does not come from having different tools. It comes from connecting them around a repeatable decision.
A collection of tools becomes a system only when someone installs the workflow between them.

MYOSIN LEARNS: Stop Cold Messaging Strangers. Do This Instead
Cold messaging strangers takes time, and most of those messages never land.
In this week’s Myosin Learns, Bettina Sosa, CEO of Yaven, walks through a better way to find prospects: start with the network you already have.
She shows how to download your LinkedIn data, use Claude to score each connection against your ICP, and bring in EXA to identify relevant second-degree prospects with a warm path back to you.
The result is not simply a better prospect list. It is a repeatable workflow for deciding who is worth contacting and how to reach them.
What Is Forward Deployed Marketing?
AI has made it easy to build a custom marketing system and hard to actually own one. Most buyers still sort that problem into a category they already know: hire an agency to execute, bring in a consultant to advise, add a fractional CMO to lead, or buy software and hope it sticks.
This week, Olly Jones argues those categories were built for a narrower job than the one AI now makes possible. Forward deployed marketing (FDM) names the model that fits the new one: an operator works inside the company's actual GTM environment, not around it, and moves through four capabilities that turn into a working system the team owns and runs itself.
The distinction that matters most is that a technically working build is not the same as a system a team can actually run. The FDM decides what's worth building and where AI shouldn't get the final call; then installs the mechanics that turn a deliverable into internal capability instead of another thing a vendor maintains.
Internal capability, built with external acceleration. That's the shift.
SKILL STACK: Stop Being the Human Glue
If your marketing stack only works because someone spends all day copying data, updating spreadsheets, and moving information between tools, you do not have a system. You have manual operations hiding behind software.
This week’s Skill Stack introduces n8n, a workflow automation platform that connects the tools your team already uses and moves work between them automatically.
In the lesson, you’ll learn what makes n8n different, where it fits in a modern marketing toolkit, and why understanding workflow automation is becoming a core skill for AI-enabled marketers.
The goal is not to automate everything. It is to stop wasting human attention on work the system should already know how to do.
Which part of your GTM stack is still held together by someone doing the connecting by hand?
Book a call to scope a 90-day forward deployed marketing engagement, where we build and install that automation instead of just pointing you at the tool.
That’s it for this week.
